I think I speak for the majority of us when I say, enough with the layers, the uncertain weather, the more than occasional rain drizzles and clouds swarming the sky over us. It’s safe to say that summer is officially approaching in the northern hemisphere and we can finally get rid of boxy jumpers, scarves, ankle boots and coats.
I for one, finally took the plunge yesterday when upon my return of the gym and my visit to the waxing lady, I decided it was warm enough to switch up the wooly jumper I was wearing under my blazer with a short-sleeved white t-shirt. And what a good feeling – gone is the constant angst of catching a cold and hello sunshine rays.

But we’re not here to talk about how uncomfortably sweaty, sweaters can make you feel in the sun, I’m here to tell you what you should be BUYING next on the fashion end. With warm weather comes happy smiles and good mood, and what better way to accentuate that than with a timeless and elegant pattern such as gingham. The checkered style is being celebrated all over runways, street style, celebrity crushes and more importantly, currently available in all major high street stores. No need to spend your hard-earned cash on a pricey Johanna Ortiz or Caroline Constas top and dress, ZARA allocated over 50 pieces of its collection to gingham (including this mix and match floral printed gingham tunic), Sam Edelman created not one but two gingham style sandals, and designers such as Mango and Marques’Almeida have taken the plunge and created pieces in bright hues that will stand out of the norm.

The easy to wear style is mainly seen in the black & white color combination, which is great for pairing with colorful accessories. However, summer stands for bright colors and playing with tones we usually shy away from during winter and fall, so why settle for a navy or black when you can rock a yellow skirt and top combination, or a laid back casual red dress like this one by MANGO?

Not in the mood to show off your legs yet? That’s okay, luckily for you, we’ve got this fab crop top by River Island in an orange/red tone (also available in a range of other colors), as well as the heavily ‘grammed semi off shoulder front wrap shirt by New Look available for a mere £27.99. Madewell blessed us with an easy peasy breezy wrap mini skirt, which will look great with a simple white tee for a dressed down look, or with a puffy sleeved silk shirt for a night out. Abercrombie & Fitch surprised us all with this perfectly simple popover shirt which will look great with a pair of high waisted mom jeans or white flares. But no summer wardrobe is complete without a swim piece! Try this one by one of our recent go-to swimwear designers: Solid & Striped for a classic cut and fit.

Finish off your outfit with a checkered headscarf to embrace your inner country gal and what better way to step into summer than with a pair of platform heels as seen on the ultimate street style star: Bella Hadid.
