For a weekly dosis of fashion & lifestyle news, special deals & more exciting content!

When looking for makeup inspiration, there’s really only one place to go – Instagram. The app is full to bursting with incredibly talented artists and enthusiasts offering you advice. But with so many accounts on there, finding the type of content you like can feel a little overwhelming.

But never fear. As someone who spends far too much time scrolling, I’ve come up with an edit of my favourites. And whether you favour a natural look or something a little more out there, I’ve got you covered. Here are my top five minimal and editorial Instagram beauty accounts.

There’s something about minimal makeup which just feels so very … now. It may be the Glossier influence, or the fact that we’re all getting a little lazier, but the idea of smushing on makeup with fingers in under five minutes is hugely appealing. And, in spite of its full-glam reputation, Instagram is a fantastic place to find this minimal makeup inspiration. Here are five of the best.

Need that summer glow back ✨

A post shared by Lesley (@freshlengths) on

ASOS insider and model Lesley’s beauty account is a feast for the eyes. Her looks are always stunningly natural, although there’s often a fun twist or pop of colour. The girl just oozes laid-back cool – and do we need to point out how totally stunning she is?

A post shared by Rio Viera-Newton (@riovn) on

Rio came to our attention with her fantastic beauty column for the Strategist, where she talks K beauty, multi=masking and so much more. Her Instagram is a reflection of this – her looks are always skin focused and natural, though she does often include one fun element like a lavender eye or bright red lip.

MUA Nam Vo is known for her #namvoglow, and her Instagram page (quite literally) reflects this. Her looks are always simple, but always highlighted to the high heavens. If you’re looking for skin-spiration, this is the account for you.

Erica Fae merges a natural aesthetic with some beautiful pops of colour. But what stands out is her stunning (and natural looking) skin – always the perfect balance of dewy and matte and super bright and glowing. The account also features fantastic skincare picks, too.

If you’re into glowy skin, this is the account for you. Stunning Cecilia always looks impeccably well-moisturised and lit from within. Her makeup is always soft s sheeny, with a minimal, ‘90s vibe. There’s something dreamy and cherubic about the feed, and it always makes us feel super chill.

While a slick of brow gel and dab of concealer tends to be the vibe these days, we’ll always have a soft spot for editorial makeup. Anything that looks a little too out there to wear out of the house has a special place in our heart. And some of the greatest editorial makeup inspo can be found on Instagram. Here are our top five choices.

Beautsoup, run by an MUA called Robin Black, cleverly straddles the line between typical glam makeup and editorial vibes. Her makeup is always undeniably pretty above all else. Think cut creases, highlighter, false lashes and all your typical Instagram fare. But she always includes an interesting, unique twist which takes her looks to the next level.

This account favours a more natural take on editorial makeup, typically packed with glitter and gloss. Each look has an undeniably “cool girl” vibe, with artfully undone bases and flashes of glitter and colour.

Violette is a French MUA and the Estee Lauder global beauty director. Her account is full of fantastic twists on simple looks, elevating no-makeup-makeup. The looks are interesting, clever and always, always cool. Think a simple base with giant, powder blue eyeliner wings, or blurred out neon lipstick.

🗣several points have been made! Good night 💕

A post shared by Nyma Tang (@nymatang) on

Nyma rose to fame for her iconic “the darkest shade” series on YouTube, where she puts foundation companies to the test. Her Instagram is filled with stunning looks, which are typically a little bit “extra” yet still eminently wearable. Her skin always looks unbelievably smooth and glowing, too.

What really stands out about this account is her use of colour and texture. There is nothing off limits – five different shades of eyeshadow, dripping, wet look lips and even the inclusion of props like tinsel. If you feel your makeup has become a little lacklustre, this is the perfect account to find inspiration you can actually incorporate.
