I’ve recently found a new hobby, which involves following the best makeup artists out there on Instagram. Why, you might ask? Well for one, following them on social channels really lets you get a peak behind all of our favourite celebrity’s beauty routines, but also enables you to get all the tips and tricks from the best of the best!
So, let me ask you, what’s not to love? The only issue for me however, is that at the beginning I had trouble differentiating the real, professional makeup artists, from the fake ones. Which is why we’ve decided to introduce 3 of our all-time favourite artists that are killing it in their industry and on Instagram.
When it comes to makeup, Lan Nguyen-Grealis is without a doubt one of the most inspiring in the business. Not only are her skills out of this world, but we also adore how she shares a lot of her beautiful shoots and tips on her social channels. She has won a lot of awards for her expertise, and is also an established author!
Our favourite tip from Lan? Without a doubt how she adds pigment powder to give a pop of colour to lips. This doesn’t only allow her to play around with colours, but also helps her create different tones best suited for individual skin tones for all her clients. Want more tips? Here’s an article from Glamour Magazine with her top 5.
Hung Vanngo a.k.a the King of makeup is also one of our favourite makeup artists. For one, he has got an impressive list of clients such as Gigi Hadid and Selena Gomez, but Hung also creates the most breathtaking looks possible. We can guarantee you won’t regret following the makeup magician on Instagram.
Mostly known for his innovative and playful use of colours, the Vietnam-born artist is without a doubt growing in popularity in the industry. As mentioned in an interview with CR Fashion, Hung is also a “product junkie”. He loves face masks, always protects his skin with sunscreen and swears by overnight creams. But his skin is also prone to acne, which is one of the reasons why we cherish his tips, especially when it comes to the struggles of acne and traveling. Want to hear more? And finally, if you’re a massive fan of catwalk makeup, Pat McGrath is the Instagram feed to follow. Not only has she become an icon in the fashion and beauty industry, but Pat has also created some of the most intricate make up looks ever for the Met gala for example. Also nicknamed “the mother of makeup”, the British make-up artist is also the creative design director of Procter & Gamble beauty.
When asked on an article in Elle about some beauty tips, she claimed that she thought the biggest error anyone could make when it came to makeup, was to fear experimentation. “I always tell people to use make-up without caution: never be afraid to push the limits. The possibilities are endless,” she explained. She also strongly believes in using your fingers rather than brushes for applying makeup, and she is a mascara lover! In love yet?
