If there’s one good thing that’s come out of these strange past 3-4 months in lockdown, it has to be the increase in everyone’s concern and awareness of their personal health. Raise your hands if you recently took on jogging, biking or even working out more at home than usual. That’s right, you’re not alone!
I think it’s amazing that we all found ways to keep busy and fit during these difficult times especially because keeping healthy is one of the most important factors to avoid getting more vulnerable to get sick – but I started to wonder whether this post-Covid trend was one to stay.
A lot of my friends had never jogged before and yet they’re now, 3 months later, ready to run a half marathon. How do you explain that? Is it the fact that they needed that time to get away from the routine at home, or could this global pandemic be the solution to a healthier world wide culture? Was this a sort of wake up call in a way?
One thing we can all agree on is that the world post-Covid will definitely be an interesting one. Between more parents working from home, to families that have found the importance of spending more time together and the dating scene being much more online focused, it’s tough to tell whether these new fads will truly stick or not.
Going back to my original question, is the world getting fitter? Are people eating out less and therefore more aware of what they’re putting on their plates? Unfortunately I am unable to properly answer that at this point, as you can imagine I didn’t exactly get a new education overnight to make this type of statement and even after hours of research I can only come to this conclusion: it’s too early to tell.
Whether or not people that have adopted healthier habits during lockdown will continue or not is almost impossible to say! Do you personally feel like you’ve been eating more greens or have discovered a new found love for lean cuisine? We’d love to know what you think in the comments below.
The only thing I can say is that I’m actually quite excited to see what the world will look like in a few years, because I have a feeling that these past months have been eye opening for a lot of people. Let’s stick together to make this world a better, healthier and richer place!
