Here at TWC, we are advocates for simple and affordable pleasures, and strongly believe they should never be out of reach or intimidating, which is is exactly why we fell in love with WineSociety’s eye-catching and colorful wine cans. Angela, the brains behind the operation, has got every single detail to her products right, as she paired her love for pastel hues, as an artist herself, with her passion for rich Californian wine.
WineSociety is a California-based company that offers monthly deliveries of delicious and premium wines, straight to your home. Not only are we confident that you will adore opening your package on a monthly basis but you’ll also find yourself embracing the chance to share these beautifully designed cans with your friends for a lovely time in the sun to create special and unique memories.
AG: Hi Angela, thank you so much for taking the time to chat with us! To start, we would love to know more about your background as an artist, when did you start to explore your artistic flair and can you define the connection between wine and art?
A: I think I may have been born with a paintbrush in my hand, lol. Art is the only thing I have connected with my whole life. The fascinating thing about it is how many ways it can be implemented. Everything we do involves art, from our signatures to the products we use, music we listen to and food + beverages we enjoy. Wine is most definitely an art and a beautiful one at that.
AG: How did you come up with the concept for WineSociety and when did you realize there was a gap in the market for this type of product?
A: My husband (and co-founder) Austin and I grew up in the midwest and started traveling to California for work where we fell in love with Napa Valley and the wine culture. We realized that experience was missing and for most people (including us at the time) wine was perceived as intimidating, complex and expensive. We saw that as an opportunity to start WineSociety where we bring great wine, in simple familiar packaging without all the complexity and at an approachable price.
AG: Have you always had a special relationship with wine? And how important is it for you that your product is environmentally friendly?
A: Actually no. I did not fall in love with wine until our travels to Napa Valley – it was more the entire experience that drew me in, and now I have grown to really appreciate it. Besides being aromatic and pleasant on the pallet, wine is one of the few alcoholic beverages that actually has health benefits (in moderation of course). The Eco-friendly aspect has been a highly important factor from the start. Our cans are a renewable resource, 100% recyclable and have a lower carbon footprint than other beverage containers. We have also selected packaging that is recyclable and continues to look for ways to be even more eco-friendly.
AG: We absolutely love your cans and their pastel tones – very millennial pink vibes. Could you tell us how your artistic background has helped you in the design process?
A: Thank you! I have always been drawn to simplicity in design with a creative twist. It allows important or unique features to stand out and be “heard.” Being a millennial myself, simplicity and authenticity are valued greatly.
AG: Is your wine targeted to a specific audience, or would you say you had an ideal customer in mind?
A: We are focused mostly on the female millennial, city dweller, online shopper, and influencer. but that is not to say our wine cannot be enjoyed by everyone!:)
AG: Which wine would you recommend to our fellow wine-loving shoppers here at TWC, and could you tell us a bit more about the origin and particularities of each one?
A: With summer coming to an end, I would pair CHANCE or FATE with the last warm rays and then transition to TEMPT for those crisp fall nights! TEMPT, FATE & CHANCE make up our flagship line that we describe as “Beautifully Balanced” – not too sweet and not too dry, real crowd pleasers! TEMPT is a red blend of Syrah, Petit Syrah and Petit Verdot. FATE is a white blend of Albarino and Chardonnay. CHANCE is a rose’ blend of Zinfandel, Syrah and Barbera. We also are excited to announce a new limited release Gamay wine called PLEASURE that drinks like a sweet rose’!
AG: And finally, what would be your ideal setting to enjoy one of your cans with your loved ones? Do you enjoy hosting at home or would this be a great hostess gift?
A: Both! Although I really adore hosting and have designed our home to be a perfect place for entertaining with friends and family.
