In A Festive Mood? We Bet These Movies Will Make Your December Watchlist | The Weekly Cut

For a weekly dosis of fashion & lifestyle news, special deals & more exciting content!

It’s never too early to get in the Christmas spirit ladies and gent. Which is why we’ve already started putting together our must-see Netflix December playlist here at TWC, and as generous as we are, we’re going to share it with all of you. *Spoiler alert* this list is a major cringe fest if you don’t like cheesy films!

I don’t know about you, but I instantly get in the mood for romantic comedies as soon as the weather gets colder and the nights longer. Which is what brings me to this festive-inspired list. Have you noticed how most top (and most cringe) rom-coms happen to also be set during the holiday season?

I must admit that I love turning on the TV and stumbling upon a film I hadn’t seen in years, but it’s also very rare that I find one that I actually want to watch. Which is why it’s always good to prepare your list ahead of time to make sure you don’t have to scroll through endless lists of Netflix recommendations before grabbing your chunky blanket and letting your hot chocolate get cold.

The good news: Netflix is absolutely filled with feel-good movies you won’t want to miss this time around, and we’ve even added our own personal recommendation and inspired outfits as well!

How the Grinch stole Christmas

Let’s start this list off with everyone’s favourite Dr Seuss character, the one and only Grinch! I don’t think we will need to explain much of the plot here, but it’s worth noting that Jim Carrey’s performance is without a doubt the highlight of this film. Not only is this definitely not your typical Christmas film, it’s also directed by Ron Howard, the director of A Beautiful Life and Apollo 13 which are both, amazing films.

The Princess Switch

That’s right, Vanessa Hudgens’ double-time playing made our list this year! We’ve got to admit it: we love the cheesiness of this film. Right from the beginning of the film you’ll feel all warm and fuzzy inside. The best scenes include snowball fights, a bake-off and even a horseback riding trip! I mean, if you’re not adding this one to your playlist, we’re not very sure what it is you’re trying to get from Christmas films!

Christmas with the Kranks

Because Home Alone and Christmas vacation are unfortunately not on Netflix UK, we’ve had to pick our second all-time favourite comedy festive film and it’s an old one, but a good one! As the family tries to embark on a somewhat different Christmas break destination, they are stopped by their neighbours. Don’t be fooled by the negative reviews, this film is hilarious from beginning to end and is filled with unexpected scenes!

New Year’s Eve

Although this film has been highly criticised by the critics, we still enjoy a soppy, romantic festive film! The film is a multiple storyline approach (similar to Valentine’s Day and Love Actually which we both love by the way) and has a killer cast that include the handsome Zac Efron, the talented Lea Michelle and the hilarious Ashton Kutcher.

Do you agree with our selection or have you got other films on Netflix you would like to recommend? Please let us know in the comments below, and hope you have a nice festive season!
