After giving homage to the king of menswear fashion, the world’s most famous club studio 54 and the biggest online publishing company in the world, it was only time we took the time to profile everyone’s favourite actress. Not only is Meryl Streep known as *one of the best actress of her generation*, she has also been nominated for a record of 21 Academy Awards!

After just re-watching one of my favourite films The Devil Wears Prada on TV, I couldn’t help but spend the next hour after finishing the film scrolling down Meryl’s insanely talented career and bio.

Meryl street is not only known for her amazing talent as a drama actress, but is also highly recognised for starring in comedy films, TV shows as well as musicals. How amazing was her performance on Big Little Lies season 2! Let us ask you, want can’t Meryl do? To cheer you up, here’s our all time favourite quote from Meryl about her love for acting:

“Acting is not about being someone different. It’s finding the similarity in what is apparently different, then finding myself in there.

Now moving on to Maryl’s history and bio. The actress was born in 1949 in New Jersey and began her career in New York in the late 1960s.

Meryl was said to be an *awkward* little girl and decided at 15 to give herself a makeover and managed to transform her looks into a *homecoming queen*. It was whilst she was attending New York’s Vassar College that Meryl discovered her love for acting.

She appeared in a few Broadway productions before going into films about 10 years later which was when she starred in Oscar-winning films such as Kramer vs. Kramer, Sophie’s Choice and The Iron Lady.

It’s not always been sunshine and rainbows however for Meryl and there has been some negative press about her. A headline in 2017 involved Meryl  after being accused by another actress for being complicit in the cover-up of Harvey Weinstein’s sexual behaviour and mistreatment of other young actresses. Meryl however responded that she had never known about the allegations and that she had wished she had known to stop it from happening.

“I am truly sorry she sees me as an adversary, because we are both, together with all the women in our business, standing in defiance of the same implacable foe: a status quo that wants so badly to return to the bad old days, the old ways where women were used, abused and refused entry into the decision-making, top levels of the industry,” she said after the accusations.

Unlike most other actresses, as Meryl has matured people haven’t stopped offering her a wealth of amazing roles such as Doubt, Julie & Julia and August: Osage County which all got Oscar recognition.

Not only has she starred in some of our favourite films here at TWC, it’s also known that she is a dream to work with. Sophie’s choice director Alan Pakula stated that she is a heaven to direct.

“If there’s a heaven for directors, it would be to direct Meryl Streep for your whole life,” he claimed in an interview.

Meryl Streep is now 70 years old and is celebrating a long and successful career but it’s fair to say that it is far from the end of her career. In an interview for Vogue, she claims that she has been feeling 40 for a few years now, and has always been comfortable feeling like she still is in her 40s. Could that be the secret to being as successful and looking as amazing as she does in her 70s? Maybe so!
