Or should we say: let’s take a look at this year’s hottest player! Nah, just kidding I actually do enjoy some football, especially when it gives you the chance to feel patriotic again. We’ve got some fun facts for you to blow your boyfriend’s mind at your next dinner party, so he better watch out!

And the winner is…

On Thursday the 14th of June the group stage of the World Cup 2018 will kick off when Russia and Saudi Arabia will play against each other in Moscow. Who else is excited? This year should be very interesting, with Germany in the lead of the predictions for the winning title, France and Spain are not far behind. But what about England? Unfortunately, the stats are not very favourable for the English team but I guess we just have to wait and see!

You’ve got to look out for…

There’s no doubt that sexy French player Antoine Griezmann, talented Brazilian striker Neymar da Silva and Germany’s own 27-year-old Toni Kroos are going to score some amazing goals this year, but we’re most excited to see Mo Salah bring Egypt’s hopes high after his amazing year for the Liverpool team.

Fun facts…

The FIFA world cup will take place in 11 different cities around Russia, and Moscow will host the final game. As for this year’s mascot, it will be a wolf called Zabivaka (meaning the one who scores) that has been chosen by the Russian public. The wolf was designed by student designer Ekaterina Bocharova who received 53% of the votes. And if you’re lucky enough to attend the games, you’ll also be able to join special events organised by FIFA called the FIFA fan fests, the best place to enjoy the electric atmosphere of the world cup!

The Nigerian football shirt…

Is making headlines in the news! Both the home and away shirts, priced at £64.95 at the Nike store, reportedly sold out online within three minutes on Oxford Street and the cool green and white design is sure to make more than one appearance in the stadium.

This year…

Will officially be the 21st tournament, 88 years after the first ever game that took place in Uruguay. And one of the venues for the games, the Fisht Stadium in Sochi, was the same stadium that hosted and opened the 2014 Olympic Winter Games!
