There’s no hiding our fascination for the royal family as you might remember from our previous article about the 5 reasons why people around the world are so interested in their lives, but have you noticed how many tabloid headlines Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton have made this year? In order to help you guys out with your monthly intake of royal family drama, here’s a short summary of what you might have missed.

This week, we’re taking a look at the way the press is taking the opportunity to make up some more family drama due to the fact that Harry and Meghan have moved away from William and Kate, and the way Meghan has been some of the tabloid’s focus with her supposedly insane family back in the US. It’s never easy to be the newest member of a clan, but the press is also finding it difficult to realise that things might just be changing because of simple life events like someone expecting a new child, or wanting a better lifestyle for their family, rather than having anything to do with affairs, drugs, arguments or money….

PS: take note that we don’t have inside information on the family’s whereabouts but are taking an objective take on the published tabloid news.

The brotherhood separation

The royal brothers have always had a very close relationship as they had a difficult upbringing without their mothers following her death in 1997, and they have always joked around that they were “stuck together for the rest of their lives” as quoted by Harry. But things seem to be getting trickier for the two brothers, between rumours of infidelity by William, and the supposed difficulties that Meghan has brought to the family, the brothers have more than enough to worry about. But what do we actually think is going on between the two?

Their separation has probably much more to do with their busy lives as princes, than the ones predicted by tabloids. You do need to remember that Harry has now moved out from Kensington Palace to Frogmore Cottage to bring up his first child with Meghan, and meanwhile, William is juggling his preparation as future king of England as well as bringing up his 3 children.

At the end of the day, we forget that the two couples have their own lives, and it’s not because they’re moving away from each other, and no longer spotted at as many football games, that there has to be any tension between them. It’s easy to fabricate stories about their growing apart, but sometimes it can be easier to realise they are simple human beings as well with families and responsibilities.

Spotlight on: Meghan Markle

If the tabloids have been targeting one person in particular in the past year, it’s got to be Meghan Markle. Not only do they love to tell Meghan what she should or shouldn’t be doing, they also have a great interest in putting down her family members. Going as far as criticising her for having a weed-loving nephew, no communication with her father and a crazy half sister. The latest news however, is how her staff are not enjoying receiving texts from her at 5am in the morning, how her half sister is predicting Meghan will never let her dad see his grandchild and finally, whether the couple will follow the traditional royal family birth location.

Here again, it’s easy to speculate as most of these news do not come from Meghan or Harry’s mouths – so who knows what is actually happening in the Duchess of Sussex’s head. Oprah has recently made the headlines on Vanity Fair by stating that there was “no need for bad publicity for the mum-to-be” and claims that she is kind, patient and particularly strong as she is able to ignore all the bad press that comes out on a daily basis.

“I think she’s being portrayed unfairly, and I feel that if people really knew her, they would know that she is not only everything that we perceive her as being—graceful and dynamic and holding that position—but she just has a wonderful, warm, giving, loving heart,” she told King and two other anchors. “I see all the crazy press around her. I think it’s really unfair.” Said Oprah to Vanity Fair.
