Winter Wonderland has finally opened its doors in London this weekend and the John Lewis Christmas ads have hit our screens, which can only mean one thing: the countdown to Christmas has officially started! Although we’ve been in a festive mood for a while now at TWC, we have decided not to get our office Christmas tree just yet, but are all discussing our holiday plans. We’re curious, where will you be spending your Christmas holiday this year?

What’s it going to be ? A romantic (and warm) trip to Malta, an epic week in stunning New York city to see the lights, or a chilly and yet extraordinary holiday to see the Northern lights in Lapland? Whatever it is, as long as you’re surrounded by the ones you love, have the right wardrobe packed and eat a delicious meal, we know you’ll be satisfied.

Valletta, Malta

Visiting the popular nativity scenes in Malta is one of the biggest traditions of the island, and one you will want to experience. Every year, the residents of the small southern island open their shutters (and sometimes even the doors to their homes) to show off their own versions of their holy cribs to the public and their neighbours. Overall, the entire island becomes a fairy tale land, and we strongly recommend booking a pantomime show at the Manoel Theater. Did we also mention that the temperatures in December are between 15 to 20 degrees!?

New York, USA

The famous ice rink in the middle of the Rockefeller centre is calling out your name this year! Not only is New York literally one of the most famous destinations during the festive season, it’s also the most entertaining place to bring your family, or enjoy a romantic getaway. Whether you want to take a look at the annual decorated tree lighting that is celebrating its 87th year this year, attend the annual Christmas spectacular or head to Central Park for a fun holiday market, we know you’ll have the time of your life. Just one thing you should know is that New York gets very chilly, so make sure you pack all your layers!

Lapland, Finland

Although it’s believed that Santa is officially from the North Pole, the Finnish people would have us believe otherwise. For them, Rovaniemi in Lapland is officially where the Christmas headquarters are, and you will only believe it once you see it! But Lapland is also known for its amazing wildlife, gorgeous northern lights and breathtaking hotels. This location is the ultimate one if you want to make your children’s dreams become a reality. They will be able to meet Santa and his elves, help in the toy factories, and even go on fun snowmobile safaris around the forest and sleep in an igloo…

Planning on heading home or going somewhere even more tropical? Let us know in the comments as we would love to know where you think is the best place to spend the holidays.
