The same approach that Amazon took upon launching their in-house beauty brand Belei, centered around “nothing less, nothing more” is what we’re aiming for when looking at ways to switch up our winter coats and furs to more spring weather-appropriate outerwear. Bearing in mind the risk of that in-between season flu which we’re here to avoid at all costs.
It can be hard to know how to dress these days, mornings display crisp temperature around the low double digits and midday/early afternoon goes up to roughly 15 degrees on a good day. Is that warm enough to simply don an oversized blazer? Can I get away with a chunky knit and leather jacket? Will a belted trench coat and crewneck sweater serve me right through the day? Or should I remain cautious and maintain my wool coat collection in rotation until I’m positive I won’t catch a cold? Technically speaking it’s already spring, so in the hopes that it will get much warmer sooner rather than later, we perused the Internet in search of the ideal outerwear pieces to wear through Easter, until the first glimpses of summer indicate you no longer need any.
In the sort of non overwhelmingly hot way you’d expect for a spring coat to keep you warm and comfortable without perspiring in the rush of entering and exiting the subway station, we found that the aforementioned trench coat is a safe choice to invest in. Depending on the brand, we dutifully spotted the style in a variety of iterations from glossy textures to soft cotton and silk. Pick your length, whether in a midi cut or above the knee, and cinch your waist with the attached belt. Speaking of belts, we’re entering a phase of blazer adoration – though the blazer is nothing short of a new trend as it is often dubbed as an essential wardrobe must-have, this season introduces us to menswear inspired pieces with oversized styles, puffy shoulders and matching belts to keep it all together in one place.
Moving on to longer styles, we have yet to stumble across a wool-blend coat we didn’t love. If you’re as much into pastels and baby versions of classic colors, this chick-yellow short coat by Theory is the only piece you’ll need until June. Should you be on the lookout for a lighter version, we recommend this military green linen coat by Zara, as well as this double-breasted safari version by Massimo Dutti. But until the temperatures start to fully rise, reach for smart layering techniques to make sure not to catch some in-between season flu.
The arrival of spring and its cherry blossoms, followed by Easter and April showers are just a few occasions we want to be prepared for – so don’t wait any longer and take a peek into our hand-picked jackets and coats we’re investing in this spring.
