This week has been full of good news – starting with the weather (yep, that topic again) brightening up and a consequently stable 20 degrees celsius which I believe everyone has been waiting for. Followed by an anticipation to the long weekend, celebrating Memorial Day over across the pond and the Spring bank holiday over here. In the fashion world, we can hardly contain our excitement upon reading about H&M’s latest upcoming collaboration with the man who manages to make every woman look like she’s living a fairytale: Giambattista Valli. You didn’t see that one coming, did you? Neither did we, but this is one we’ll *most definitely* be splurging on.
Before we move on from this news broadcasting introductory paragraph, let’s take a first look at the designer’s collection, already worn as a preview by Kendall Jenner, Chiara Ferragni Bianca Brandolini and others at this year’s AmfAR gala in Cannes. The dresses and skirt + top sets are without a doubt guaranteed to make you not only feel but look like Cinderella, and we’re here for it.
Moving on to the actual topic of today’s feature – beach dressing and summer ready looks, curated by yours truly. The first thing that comes to mind when thinking about warm weather fashion is the ease of it. Forget layering and making sure your leather boots are warm enough to be worn with just a single pair of knee-high socks. It’s not only the lack of complexity of summer dressing that gets us giddy to wake up in the morning, but also the variety of options! Besides the fact that trends are more colorful, more textured and more *out there*, they’re easy to invest in without renouncing to a good half of your pay check. It’s no secret that clothing comes generally at a much lower price tag in comparison to Fall/Winter, mainly due to the fact that there’s no investment in warm fabrics like cashmere and merino wool. Personally, there are very few pieces I’d gladly purchase at a high price point, strictly because of one reason alone – sweat and humidity. Why spend a small fortune on a white brocade top if by the time you step out of the subway and order coffee at your local joint, you can already feel sweat beads forming at the small of your back?
Raunchy details aside, this season is definitely the one where I forego spending much on clothing and prioritize the outdoors and their subsequent happy hour and al fresco dining with good food and drinks. And what’s not to love about that?
