Perusing the digital aisle of summer must-haves (especially during sale time) is almost inevitable for a fashion editor. Between modern classics, wardrobe staples and seasonal accessories, it’s easy to get lost in stocking up on pieces to compliment the rest of your closet. Some people choose to invest in reinvented knits that add a little something different to a general summer outfit. We are those people! This year, we’re looking to add as much crochet as possible – luckily we got a head start by starting with this midi red gem by Altuzarra.

Crochet textures may remind you of old school knitting and oversized cardigans during Fall/Winter, but we’re adding a totally different twist to it. Starting with incorporating it into our summer dressing with cropped tops, thigh slits making room for the perfect twirl, and crossbody bags that will make you feel as though you’re in the beach, when in reality you’re still in the office on a Friday afternoon. Not only does the knitted fabric add an edge to an otherwise regular white top and denim look – we’re also looking at the warmth aspect of it since most pieces are way thicker than a typical summer blouse. With regards to tops, we love to accentuate with gold jewellery like this chunky necklace and a pair of hoops. Moving down to the bottoms, you can never go wrong with a crochet skirt – finish it off with this year’s jewellery must-have: the anklet, and a pair of chic strappy sandals.

The best part about summer dressing is that it can be easy on your budget too. Gone are the days where stylish options were only available from high-end retailers – so stock up on some basics and start with knitted crochet. We guarantee it will be the easiest way to elevate a vacation wardrobe; replace your go-to pieces with this wrapped two-tone top, or this fiery red maxi skirt. Looking to add more color? Opt for a bright accessory like this mini evening clutch or sun hat to go the extra mile.
