It’s been a while since we did a proper roundup of what’s currently sitting in our shopping carts, and there sure isn’t a better timing than right after a shopping haul to give you an insight into what we’ve been coveting. To say that we’re anxious for Spring to come around is a considerable understatement. According to our calendars, we’re only 19 days away, but in our minds, we’re already basking in the sun having lunch al fresco, and sporting pants in a variety of white shades.
As luck would have it, it’s still fashion week season, albeit the end of it (*sigh of relied*) and we’ve witnessed a few items being worn on repeat. From editors to street style stars, runway attendees and it girls, one thing we noticed this season is a refreshing take on tailoring and a classic dressing option. We’re seeing a lot of structured blazers, belted or simply oversized, as well as an influx of straight-leg jeans rapidly replacing anything too skinny or distressed. In the accessories department, since we’re sort of biased on the gold/silver debate, gold is our tone of choice when picking out something shiny. Hoops, as per last season are *huge*, as well as smaller-sized pieces, and a lot of meticulous craftsmanship driven by emerging designers such as Stvdio from Brooklyn.
Speaking of emerging, an alternative to high-end designer bags can be found in the shape of either very sleek leather pieces like this one; and anything croc-effect or satin shoulder style is on our wish list too. If a bag is under £500, sophisticated and high quality, you know we won’t be the ones with our eyes on it! Footwear-wise, we’re absolute fans of sling backs, mainly due to their ability to elevate an outfit in an instant with a short heel without risking blisters and painful walks. Don’t ditch your boots just yet, as Western-style anything and everything is on the lookout – simply replace your darker ones with a suede beige or white leather design.
And because it’s really almost spring, coupled with the fact that bold colors are on the horizon as soon as the sun makes an appearance, there’s a significant portion of yellow, pinks, powder blue and green. Lastly, in the materials department, silk/satin is still a frontrunner and we’re not only taking the leap in the shape of a midi skirt (this time in apple green!) but also in a burnt orange/rust brown tone. Pair it with a leather jacket or chunky sweater and it’s like you fast-forwarded to Easter!
Or at least that’s what we gathered from the snapshots, since fashion is most commonly known to be way to express yourself, it’s only natural for us to spend a good portion of the week scouring the best finds.
