Like it or not, but it’s finally time to upgrade our wardrobe picks from freezing cold to milder temperatures (let’s not get ahead of ourselves, Spring is not *quite* yet around the corner). For this reason, and for the sake of browsing through some of the final clearance sales the Internet has to offer, we’re looking at the easiest ways to switch up a thermal bodysuit or cashmere turtleneck and add in some pizzazz in the form of lace.

While it’s been around for decades, if not centuries, lace is one of our most cherished fabrics to wear year-round. It’s a bit like animal-print in the way that it’s surprisingly easy to wear and style with the rest of your closet (despite what many think!), remains a timeless classic and truly never goes out of style. Sure there are pieces that fit more for a night-time look as opposed to a day at the office, but there’s a reason why some many it girls, fashion editors and style icons bring it back season after season in the most put together looks.

If you’re curious to find out how you should incorporate lace into your next looks, then join us as we get laced up. You may be the type of person that stays away from delicate fabrics for a number of reasons – comfort, price or the fear of needing it to get dry cleaned the second you spill something, but you’ll be surprised as to how easy it is to wear lace on a daily basis and adding it to your routine without thinking twice about how to pair it. And by pairing it – we exclude lace lingerie as that would simply be too easy!

For starters, and as for all new things – the key is to start bit by bit, slowly and surely. One of our team members bought her first black lace blouse a few years ago from Zara, and wore it on several occasions throughout the winter months. Worn with a sultry bra beneath, or a simply cami, add a pair of leather pants or wide-legged trousers and you’re ready to go. As the days get longer and the need for wearing all-black is no longer paramount, we recommend adding a lighter color to your growing collection. We later got our hands on an off-white one by Reformation, which quickly became a wardrobe staple and looks *really* good worn with a pair of mom jeans or skinny jeans. You can find similar styles below!

Now that you’ve dipped your (open) toes into foreign territory, let’s proceed with other styles that will be much needed come Spring. Whether you’re contemplating on what to wear to an upcoming wedding or night out, a lace dress, when done right, is a gem. Now’s the time to take a look at other colours that aren’t black or white – think a chic neutral, or a sparkly gold or silver tone. If you’re curious to find out how living coral might look on lace, this piece by Chloé is on sale and looks great with a pair of sandals or ankle boots. Regarding the other colors of the rainbow, we love any top that comes out of Alexander Wang’s studio, and this chartreuse yellow bodysuit is just the right blend between a classic fabric like lace and a season trend like neon chartreuse.

For more suggestions, we hand-picked the best pieces from day to night time looks, cotton blends and 100% lace. Scroll through to shop!
