Nothing exudes the start of a new season and quarter than a brand-new column – which brings us to the here and now, fellow readers! We’re excited to announce the first edition of Want, Need, Read, Wear – the weekly feature will encompass the top pick from our team for each category. WANT is a current must-have and the kind of product which when we decide to ‘sleep on it’ makes an appearance in our dreams and is one of the first things that cross our minds when we sip that first cup of coffee in the morning. NEED is as you may assume a pure necessity – whether it’s that *one* it bag or accessory we’re spotting everywhere or the latest Amazon buy we plan to reorder. READ isn’t limited to a book, (although we’ve got a handful of best-sellers we’re dying to share with you) it can be a recent article we’ve bookmarked or the latest newsletter we subscribed to and read on our way to work. Lastly, WEAR will introduce solely fashion purchases, including but not limited to that one pair of white trousers we must add to our summer collection or those just under $10 heart shaped sunglasses available on Amazon Prime, and happen to be a fraction of the original YSL pair (because you know we love a bargain!). Let’s jump right into it, shall we?
Little did we know that a simple midi knitted dress could fill so much purpose. Whether it’s freezing cold or spring warm, this belted dress by & Other Stories can be worn year round. Pair it with knee high boots and tights in winter, or with a chunky sandal or loafers when the weather permits. If white seems to sensitive for you, opt for the black version!
Part of Byredo’s new Night Veils collection, Casablanca Lily is one of three perfumes recently launched by the brand. Expect a rich scent mastered by plum and gardenia with a base of rosewood and honey accord. Also in the mix is indian tuberose and carnation, making it a great perfume to wear late into the night. Though the brand’s perfumes are priced high, this one is a definitive investment-worthy addition to your getting ready routine in the early morning. Pro tip: stop at 2-3 sprays maximum and put on before getting dressed as the colour can fade on your clothes!
When legends such as Corbusier and Jeanneret collaborate, things tend to get good, real good. Better yet, these two renowned architect cousins worked closely together on the Chandigarh project, creating some of the most iconic and well-structured pieces in history. This book features over 300 pages of illustrations from their time in India in the 1950s, including the collection of furniture style pieces then used for the Indian government offices and a number of private homes. A must coffee table book for any interior design lovers out there!
Not one to currently have the budget to splurge on any type of jewellery that enters my inbox, it’s refreshing to see designers creative beautifully-crafted pieces to wear that aren’t completely out of your spending range. This week, our number one wish list item is this gold-plated crystal ring by Leda Madera. Founded by Italian designer Giulia Tordini (see stylish sister Giorgia Tordini for further style envy), her pieces are easy to wear with classic silhouettes and elegant features. At just over £200, we’re sold and can’t wait to see what else is coming!
